ACKC Youth Field was the site for USSL Single A action featuring the Athletic Club KC U-21 and Myrtle Beach Seahawks.
Myrtle Beach turned a good effort from starter Garrett Schaper into a win over the Athletic Club KC U-21 at ACKC Youth Field. The final score was 6-1. Schaper picked up the win for Myrtle Beach, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-8.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Seahawks sent teenager Dallas Ihde to the plate against U-21 hurler Donat Karczmarek. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-0 fastball to score 2.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Schaper told reporters after the game.
The Seahawks now own a record of 49-47.
