Plainsmen Get Road Win, 7-2
|
The exploits of first baseman Rafael Porfrio, who is tied for 8th in the SA in home runs with 7, helped the Nebraska Plainsmen defeat the Niagara Falls Expos, 7-2. Porfrio went 1-1 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Liam Thomson, who threw 116 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 11 hits. The Plainsmen improved to 37-45.
Porfrio had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Jesús Vidro, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Plainsmen a 3-2 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Porfrio.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Porfrio.
