Expos Sneak Past Generals, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Niagara Falls Expos got the win.
The Niagara Falls Expos did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Washington Generals at Waterfall Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Derek Patton, who captured player of the game honors. Tony Wolfe notched his 7th save in 8 chances.
Had Manuel Núñez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Núñez hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Expos.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Núñez.
The Expos improved to 35-38.
