Storm Come Up Short at Bellevue
|
The Bellevue Bruins got a stellar effort from pitcher Claudio Mateo, helping Bellevue score a 1-0 win over the visiting Syracuse Storm. Mateo, now 6-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Picking up the save was Brendan Haataja, his 16th.
Bellevue catcher Lorenzo Díaz helped the Bruins go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Díaz hit a solo home run off Syracuse pitcher Iván Castillo.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Syracuse skipper Chad Hess, "and it cost us."
After today's action, Bellevue sits at 33-18, while Syracuse falls to 22-29.
