Generals Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Walleye
|
The Washington Generals got a strong performance from pitcher Dan Fletcher, who stymied the Walla Walla offense en route to a 2-0 win at Washington Park. The win was credited to Abdul Rashad in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Ids Knegt took the loss. Augusto Morín earned the save for Washington, his 2nd of the year.
Had Ricardo Bruno not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Bruno hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Generals.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Bruno told the Washington Times.
The Walleye, now 11-27, have lost 9 in a row.
