Generals Best Walleye in Pitching Duel
|
The Washington Generals got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jeff Rollins, who muffled the Walla Walla offense en route to a tight 2-1 Generals win at Walleye Tank. The winning pitcher was Rollins, now 1-1. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Picking up the save was Randy Gabaldon, his 2nd.
The Generals got a big at-bat from first baseman Dan Vanblarcom. For the game, Vanblarcom was 1-2 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Washington a 2-1 lead.
"Runs were at a premium," said Washington manager Jacob Curtis.
With the win, Washington elevates its record to 3-3.
