Guzzlers Sneak Past Torch, 3-2
|
The Mancelona Torch got a superb performance from pitcher Wiley Fritzler. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Galesburg. The Guzzlers won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Fritzler was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Galesburg, at 38-44, sits in 7th place in the Menard's A.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Tony Martínez's at-bat in the top of the eighth was crucial. With one out, the Galesburg shortstop hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Martínez.
