Caterpillars Get Past Connetquot for 6-5 Win
|
Grand Forks beat Connetquot at The Cocoon, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Robert Penn, who earned player of the game honors. Grand Forks reliever Sake van Meel got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Gong Chin was tagged with the loss. Grand Forks is now 23-29.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Grand Forks trailing 5-3, Kilipaki Malamapono hit a fastball from Gong Chin to left for a bases-clearing double. Just like that, the Caterpillars had a walk-off win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Penn said.
