The Myrtle Beach Mermen overcame a good performance by Lannister United catcher Carlos Pacheco to knock off Lannister United, 6-3, at Tennille Grounds. Pacheco was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Myrtle Beach starter Gregory Bahena was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 6-3. Guus Ketting got the save, his 12th in 13 chances.
Shigenobu Ohayashi aided the Myrtle Beach cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the center fielder went 1-3 with a walk.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Ohayashi told the Myrtle Beach Herald.
With the win, Myrtle Beach has a record of 49-50. Lannister United falls to 45-54.
