San Antonio No Match for Lustig
|
Victor Lustig of the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles spun his magic on the San Antonio BC today. He blanked them 7-0 on 4 hits, registering 11 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Lustig said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Mercer Island skipper Jared Gilbert said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Victor pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
So far this year Lustig has made 7 starts, tossed 52.2 innings, struck out 53 batters and walked 25. His record is 3-1 with a 2.56 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .184 batting average.
