In a low-scoring clash between Mercer Island and Asheville, pitcher Victor Lustig was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Mercer Island in the 3-2 win. The first-place Screaming Eagles have a one-game lead in their division.

The Screaming Eagles liked what they saw from Lustig. The 21-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Highlanders to no earned runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings, and striking out 9.

Lustig said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a pretty good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
