Eclipse Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Screaming Eagles
|
The Northville Eclipse defeated the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 6-4, in USPL Double A action at Old-Timers Park, with Northville center fielder Edgardo De Jesús named player of the game. Javier Luna converted his 16th save in 18 tries. Northville is now 43-38.
The Eclipse got a big at-bat from first baseman Alfonso Grappasonni. For the game, Grappasonni went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 75th hit of the season gave Northville a 6-4 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," De Jesús told the Northville Observer.
