|
Phoenix Hotspur starter Derrick Hopkins pitched effectively against the Lannister United Lionhearts at Grenadiers Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Hopkins, now 3-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Kenny Kawaguchi closed it out for his 11th save.
Phoenix Hotspur took a 3-2 lead on Bernardo Rivera's 47th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Rivera hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Lannister United pitcher Fernando Elías visibly frustrated.
In postgame comments to the Phoenix Hotspur Chronicle, Rivera said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Youth' win now puts them at 32-41.
