Asheville rode a good effort from starter Manuel Sánchez to beat the Richland Rails at Asheville Park. The final score was 5-1. Sánchez, the winner, moves to 5-1. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. Asheville, at 30-40, sits in last place in the Premier AA.
Don Leach helped out the Asheville cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman went 1-3.
