Screaming Eagles Win Streak Reaches 7
|
Mercer Island played host to Asheville at the friendly confines of Mercer Island Grounds.
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Asheville Highlanders, 6-4, at Mercer Island Grounds. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Jeffery Campbell, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Mario López got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 6.1 innings.
Mercer Island took a 6-3 lead on Campbell's 63rd hit of the season. The 2-run single, which he hit off Romano Martínez in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Mercer Island to the win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Campbell. "And not try to do too much."
The winning continues for Mercer Island, with the latest making it 7 straight.
