Mermen Win at Asheville, 4-2
|
The Myrtle Beach Mermen got a stellar performance from pitcher Jorge Vázquez, who handcuffed the Asheville offense en route to a 4-2 win at Asheville Park. Toshiki Yokoyama got credit for the save for Myrtle Beach. It was his 3rd of the year. Myrtle Beach occupies last place in the Premier AA at 15-26.
Jean Lechuga, who was drafted in the two round of the 2025 draft, helped out the Myrtle Beach cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the center fielder went 2-2 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Vázquez said.
