Rails Topple Screaming Eagles with Late Rally
|
Mercer Island third baseman Wade Killefer had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Killefer went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Richland beat the Screaming Eagles, 7-6. Killefer was named the player of the game despite the loss. Richland is now 15-18.
Jesús Román found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Mercer Island hurler Nésto Gago, the 21-year-old center fielder hit a sacrifice fly. His 20th RBI of the season put the Rails on top, 7-6.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Román said after the game.
