Screaming Eagles Deal Continentals Painful Loss
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles did just enough to secure a 9-8 victory over the Chesapeake Continentals at Mercer Island Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Sy-ing Tah, who captured player of the game honors. Mercer Island reliever Nésto Gago picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Obadiah Small was collared with the loss. The Continentals fall to 7-10 and continue their wobbly start to the 2029 season.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 16th inning, when Mercer Island second baseman Jorge Pérez, facing Obadiah Small, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Screaming Eagles the 9-8 win.
"This game had a little bit of everything," said Pérez.
