Rails Win Thriller, 11-8
|
The Richland Rails topped the Asheville Highlanders by the score of 11-8, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Spencer Lyng. Lyng went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rails on the day. Richland reliever Jorge Mejía got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Manabu Kato was tagged with the loss. With the win, Richland is 3-3.
Lyng had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 11th. On a first pitch fastball from Manabu Kato, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Rails a 11-8 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Lyng.
"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Richland skipper Allen Bartlett.
