It was a fun time at Tennille Grounds, where the San Antonio BC and Myrtle Beach Mermen tangled.
The Myrtle Beach Mermen overcame a good performance by San Antonio designated hitter Abraham Phelps to knock off San Antonio, 11-6, at Tennille Grounds. Phelps went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Vázquez picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 7 in 6.1 innings.
It could have been a different outcome for Myrtle Beach, had it not been for Alex Mable, the 24-year old shortstop . Mable contributed a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 7-6.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Myrtle Beach manager José González.
Myrtle Beach is off to a hot start at 4-1.
