Screaming Eagles Lose, 4-3, at Asheville Park
Asheville beat Mercer Island on the strength of starter Chris Plummerton's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. The Highlanders, now 3-0, have been on a roll in the early going.

Ron Spence helped out the Asheville cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 3.

"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Spence told the Asheville Chronicle.
