Rocks Turn Back Phoenix, 5-4
|
The Plymouth Rocks did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves at Plymouth Quarry. Nobody did more than pitcher Octavius Pringle, who captured player of the game honors. Roberto Aguirre earned the save for Plymouth, his 9th of the year. The Hotspur Reserves, now 32-60, have lost 4 straight.
Making an impact for Plymouth was shortstop Arnold Griffith. He drilled a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, Griffith went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Griffith said.
