Battlekings Topple Nobles with Late Rally
|
Jorge Castillo pitched well, but the Bakersfield Nobles still lost the game, falling 4-3 to the Naperville Battlekings at Constellation Ballpark. Naperville reliever Toshiki Yokoyama was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Jorge Castillo took the loss for Bakersfield. Naperville, at 50-37, occupies second place in the Premier AAA.
Had Roberto Veliz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Veliz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Battlekings.
"I was a little disappointed," said Bakersfield manager James Wheeler. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
