Tight Tilt Goes to Targaryens, 3-2
|
The Royse City Targaryens topped the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 3-2, in USPL Triple A action at Thunderbirds Stadium. The player of the game was Royse City pitcher and Willowick, Ohio native Kirby Brown. Brown picked up the win for Royse City, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Harry Mander earned his 2nd save in 4 chances.
Had Miguel Herrera not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Herrera hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Targaryens.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Royse City manager Chris Drew said.
The Targaryens' win now puts them at 44-37.
