Hotspur Reserves Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Tritons
|
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Jesús Mejía, the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves defeated the Jersey City Tritons, 7-5. Mejía went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Hotspur Reserves. Richard Osborn closed it out for his 4th save. The Hotspur Reserves now have a record of 26-51 with the win over Jersey City.
Had Roberto López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, López hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 7-4, in favor of the Hotspur Reserves.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Mejía.
