The Salt Lake City Buzz got a stellar performance from pitcher Roberto De La Cruz, who handcuffed the Naperville offense en route to a 5-2 win at Spirits Stadium. Salt Lake City reliever Rick Kennedy picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Francisco Gonsáles shouldered the loss. Salt Lake City is now 41-36, Naperville 47-30.
With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Roberto Soto stroked a go-ahead run-scoring single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put Salt Lake City in front, 3-2.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said De La Cruz.
