Victory Over Nobles Takes Naperville to 31-18
|
The Naperville Battlekings topped the Bakersfield Nobles, 4-1, in USPL Triple A action at Jerome Grounds. The player of the game was Naperville pitcher and Shiprock, New Mexico native Steve Gardner. Earning his 3rd save for Naperville was Kris Ross. The Battlekings, at 31-18, lead by one game in their division.
Naperville took control in the top of the sixth. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, Bill Rinck hit a run-scoring double to make it 2-1, Battlekings.
Rinck told the Naperville Gazette: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
