Hotspur Reserves Fall Short at Salt Lake City
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz beat the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 6-5, at Spirits Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Vicente Cruz, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Hotspur Reserves, now 13-29, have lost 6 in a row.
Mike Gillespie was the walk-off hero for Salt Lake City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Buzz left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Cruz said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
