Multi-HR Game for Velázquez in 11-6 Win
|
The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Royse City Targaryens, 11-6, at Royse City Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Jorge Velázquez, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6. Bakersfield is now 22-14. Royse City is 14-22.
Velázquez contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Bakersfield in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Velázquez took a cutter from Francisco López and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Nobles to leap in front, 4-1.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager James Wheeler said.
