Tritons Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Jersey City Tritons went home winners at Jersey City Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Francisco Sandoval. Sandoval silenced the Houston BC, enabling Jersey City to grab the 2-1 win. Jersey City reliever Godfrey Verbiest picked up the win to move to 1-0. Dan Hobbs suffered the loss. Jersey City is now riding a 5-game win streak.
Jersey City won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Dan Hobbs on the mound for Houston, first baseman Juan Chávez hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Tritons fans to their feet.
"I like our resilience," said Chávez.
