Shooters Subdue Marquette, 3-2
|
The Springfield Shooters eked out a 3-2 win versus the Marquette Miners at Marquette Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Marcus Blakely, who captured player of the game honors. Blakely, now 4-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The winning continues for Springfield, with the latest making it 8 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Springfield, had it not been for Daniel Faraday, the 25-year old center fielder . Faraday contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Springfield up, 3-2.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Blakely.
