Ghosts Lose Again, 6-4, to Miners
|
The Marquette Miners picked up a win at Marquette Stadium, knocking off the Casper Ghosts, 6-4. Starting pitcher Gerald Bolton, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Bolton, now 9-6. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Félix Santiago notched his 4th save in 4 chances.
Had Edgar Balerio not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Balerio hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Miners.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Bolton.
The Ghosts, now 47-52, have lost 12 in a row.
