The Yakima Hops bested the Glendale Herons by a score of 8-6, with first baseman José Rico getting the main credit. On the day, Rico went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Hops. Larry Strozier got the win, improving to 5-6. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 6 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Wyatt Meek closed it out for his 1st save.
Early in the game, Rico had a 2-run home run for Yakima. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Hops on top, 2-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Rico told the Yakima News.
Yakima is now 50-46. Glendale is 47-49.
