Virginia Beach Deuces starter Sam Groves was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Glendale Herons, 4-2. Olegário Pa earned his 27th save in 29 chances. Virginia Beach is now 49-43, Glendale 45-47.
Early in the game, center fielder Tevin McTevin had a run-scoring double for Virginia Beach. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Deuces on top, 1-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Virginia Beach manager Yoshifumi Kamuta.
