The Springfield Shooters topped the Bethesda Atoms, 5-1, in M3L Double A action at Springfield Stadium. The player of the game was Springfield pitcher and Milwaukee, Wisconsin native Richard Sykes. Sykes, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Springfield is now 37-36, Bethesda 27-46.
With the bases empty and two out in the bottom of the fourth inning, designated hitter Armando Rodríguez delivered big for the Shooters. Springfield was trailing 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
