Polar Bears Come Up Short at Springfield
Fans who came to Springfield Stadium watched the Springfield Shooters and the Billings Polar Bears fight to the finish.

The Springfield Shooters got a stellar performance from pitcher Richard Sykes, who handcuffed the Billings offense en route to a 3-2 win at Springfield Stadium. Springfield, at 36-32, occupies third place in the Menard's AA.

Had Shang-de Zhang not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Zhang hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Shooters.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Springfield manager John Carney said.
