Herons Stymie Long Island, Take 3-1 Win
|
The Long Island Seawolves got a superb performance from third baseman Júlio Flores. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Glendale. The Herons won the game, 3-1. In spite of the loss, Flores was named the player of the game. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Glendale reliever David Davis got the win, raising his record to 4-1. Alan McKinney was tagged with the loss. Víctor Torres earned the save for Glendale, his 5th.
Xu Cheng aided the Glendale cause with a 2-run double in the top of the seventh. For the game, the center fielder went 2-2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Herons manager Juan López, "I like our chances."
Glendale occupies 9th place in the Menard's AA at 31-32.
