Deuces Come Up Short at Marquette
|
The Marquette Miners got a good effort from starter Carson Vancuren in defeating the Virginia Beach Deuces at Marquette Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Vancuren, the winner, moves to 2-8. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 4 walks. Joaquin Farias picked up the save, his 9th.
The Miners got a big at-bat from designated hitter Sameen Shaw. For the game, Shaw was 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Marquette a 2-1 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Vancuren said after the game.
Marquette occupies 10th place in the Menard's AA at 20-25.
