Grasshoppers Win Thriller, 8-7
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder Jorge Díaz, the Casper Ghosts suffered a 8-7 loss to the San Bernardino Grasshoppers. Díaz slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times. San Bernardino reliever Austin Aries was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Ignacio Ayala. The win puts the Grasshoppers at 21-22, while the Ghosts drop to 23-20.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With San Bernardino trailing 7-6, William O'Keefe hit a fastball from Ignacio Ayala to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Grasshoppers had a walk-off win.
"We came out aggressive," said Grasshoppers manager Marcos Serrano. "We came out swinging the bats."
