The Glendale Herons got a stellar effort from pitcher Yoriyoshi Yoshimura, helping Glendale score a 5-1 win over the visiting Bethesda Atoms. Yoshimura went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-3. Víctor Torres picked up the save, his 1st.
Also making an impact was first baseman Francisco Guerra, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Herons. For the game, Guerra went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Yoshimura told the Glendale Daily.
Glendale is now 18-24, while Bethesda is 17-25.
