Nationals Raise Rally Flag, Beat Long Island, 7-5
|
The Long Island Seawolves got a superb performance from designated hitter Roberto Valle, but the Ottawa Nationals still won the game, 7-5. Valle was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs. Rubén Ruíz, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. The Seawolves fall to 6-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2029 season.
Tomás Bermúdez drove in 2 runs for Ottawa. The 24-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off José González. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort," said Bermúdez after the game.
