The Glendale Herons got a superb performance from pitcher Pablo Gómez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Virginia Beach. The Deuces won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Gómez was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. It was the 8th win in 12 games this year for the defending champion Deuces, who are picking up where they left off.
Clarence Weber made it 4-2 in favor of Virginia Beach when he delivered a 2-run single. It came with one out in the top of the eighth. The Deuces went on to win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Weber.
