Hotspur Reserves Win in Extras
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves beat the Houston BC, 4-3, at Thunderbirds Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Júlio Mateo, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Phoenix is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 4th in 12 games.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With two out, Mateo hit a fastball from Jamie Scott for a run-scoring single. The Hotspur Reserves, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Mateo said.
