Halberds Beat Visiting Disaster, 6-3
|
The Alloway Halberds beat the Port Royal Disaster, 6-3, at Ballpark of Alloway. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Vito Middendorf, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. At 40-59, Alloway is in 9th place in the Silver AAA.
The Halberds got a big at-bat from first baseman José Zarate. For the game, Zarate was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Alloway a 4-3 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Zarate. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
