The Supernovas faced a stiff challenge from Pure Michigan pitcher Joey McCarthy, but persevered to claim a win at Nuclear Stadium. The final score was 4-3. McCarthy went 7.2 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. Jeff Schneider was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 11 save opportunities. Scranton, at 42-41, sits in 5th place in the Silver AAA.
Had Felipe Bruno not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Bruno hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Supernovas.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Bruno said.
