Reserves Continue Skid Thanks to Quintero, Disaster
|
The Port Royal Disaster beat the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 10-2, at Ballpark of Port Royal. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop António Quintero, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while scoring 4 times. Félix Jiménez got credit for the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 5.1 innings. The Reserves, now 43-35, have lost 4 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Port Royal, had it not been for David McJannett, the 29-year old second baseman . McJannett contributed a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second inning to put Port Royal up, 3-1.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Port Royal manager Bobby Robinson.
