Halberds Come Up Short at Tortolita
The Tortolita Drummers bested the Alloway Halberds, 8-7, at Drummers Ballpark. Tung Ji was named player of the game. He was 3-4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Tortolita reliever Rex Hood picked up the win to move to 1-0. Joel Farrell suffered the loss. Earning his 23rd save for Tortolita was Briggs Bourgeois.

Wei-quo Lam drove in one run for Tortolita. The 31-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Akihiko Rin. It was his 17th RBI of the season.

"We got the victory," said Ji. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

Tortolita is now 42-30.
