Tortolita got a terrific performance from pitcher Paul Díaz, but it wasn't enough to beat the Port Royal Disaster. Port Royal won the Drummers Ballpark contest, 2-1. Díaz was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 1 run. Port Royal is now 25-29.
Had Nelson Abbey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Abbey hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Disaster.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Port Royal manager Bobby Robinson said.
