Lake Monsters Prevail, 7-5, Over Scranton
|
Behind a solid performance from catcher Barry Dempsey, the Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Scranton Supernovas, 7-5. Dempsey went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Lake Monsters. Vermont reliever Hwen-thiang Qin picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Luis Ortíz was saddled with the loss. Vermont, at 27-27, sits in 6th place in the Silver AAA.
Dempsey had an important at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the top of the fourth, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Lake Monsters went on to win.
"We'll savor this win," Dempsey told the Vermont Citizen, "then get ready for the next game."
