Victory Pushes Lake Monsters Record to 26-22
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a strong performance from pitcher Javier Matajudíos, who stymied the Port Royal offense en route to a 2-1 win at Monster Field. In 8 innings, Matajudíos surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Cherles Gachineiro earned the save for Vermont, his 11th of the year.
Albert Delgado aided the Vermont cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop was 1-4.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Delgado said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
